‘Exchequer incurred a loss of ₹21,075 crore’ The Congress, citing French portal Mediapart’s investigation on the Rafale fighter aircraft deal, on Friday asked the Narendra Modi government to explain “who removed the anti-corruption clause from the deal, who received kickbacks and how did a middleman have access to sensitive Defence Ministry documents”.

Aviation company and the makers of Rafale fighter jets Dassault Aviation on Thursday said that there were no violations reported by French anti-corruption agencies in its deal to supply 36 aircraft to India. The company made the claim in a statement released in response to reports alleging corruption in the deal.
Asserting that the company acts “in strict compliance” with France’s anti-corruption legislation, the Sapin 2 law, Dassault Aviation noted that the deal with India was established on a “government-to-government basis”. It suggested that the company was not involved in any wrongdoing as the deal took place under the purview of the Indian and French government.

New Delhi: Defence businessman Sushen Gupta on Friday denied all claims made in recent French media reports regarding his alleged role in the controversial sale of 36 Rafale jets to India in 2016.
A statement put out on Friday afternoon, which is attributed to Guptaâs legal counsel, has noted that the businessman rejects all claims of âimpropriety, irregularity or illegalityâ.

Counsel of arms dealer Sushen Gupta has termed the series of reports in the French media of kickbacks in the 2016 €7.87 billion Rafale deal between India and France as “false, baseless and mischievous”.
Counsel of Mr. Gupta, who is said to have received the kickbacks, said the reports seemed to be “motivated” and Mr. Gupta or his companies were “not involved” in any manner in the Rafale deal.
