Call me a pessimist, but I’ve often thought in the past few weeks about the irony of contracting COVID-19 just weeks before a vaccine is available. And it’s not me I’ve thought about I’ve been thinking about the more vulnerable members of my family: my daughter, who works at a hospital and my mother, who lives in a retirement community.  On Sept. 1, my 91-year old mother, Susana, moved from sunny South Florida to Milwaukee after living there for the last 25 years. The flight to Miami to bring her back was my first flight since the pandemic began, and the return trip with her made me extremely uncomfortable; I was worried about her being exposed to the disease.
