"For years, a major growing cause of concern on college campuses has been a group called 'Students for Justice in Palestine' (SJP), which has chapters throughout American Universities," the lawmakers wrote in a letter to the governor.
The legislation seals eligible misdemeanor records after three years and certain felony records after eight years. Sex crimes, murder and some other serious felonies will not be sealed and law enforcement, education officials will continue to have full access to records.
