It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Vicki Woodward Leiva, the beloved matriarch of our family, an educator in the Duluth Public Schools, and a pioneering member of the Headstart program. Vicki was born on Dec 7, 1943 and passed away on Nov 13, 2022. Vicki graduated from Denfeld High School and always had a love for learning and helping others. She received her bachelors degree and masters equivalency at the University of Superior Wisconsin and went on to work as a special education teacher in Duluth Public schools for 30 years, making a positive impact on countless students. In the 1970’s, Vicki played a key role in the establishment of Headstart in Duluth, a federally funded program designed to provide early education, health, and social services to low-income children and their families. Vicki was passionate about ensuring that every child had the opportunity to succeed and thrive and worked tirelessly to make Headstart a success.

The West Fargo High School Student of the Month for December is Cody Wirtzfeld.
Wirtzfeld is the son of Angie Wirtzfeld and was nominated by Susan Jordahl for the honor of the West Fargo Exchange Club’s Student of the Month.
Wirtzfeld is presently Co-President of the National Honor Society, three year leader of the Philanthropy and Youth Organization at WFHS and has medaled in various DECA competitions.
Wirtzfeld is a three-year varsity football starter and was chosen as football Captain and awarded All Eastern Dakota Conference his senior year. Wirtzfeld was a class officer in his Junior year, Senior class Co-President and a four-year Jazz Ensemble Member and band officer.

The West Fargo High School Student of the Month for November is Faith Greywind.
Greywind is the daughter of Tonya and Kenneth Greywind and was nominated for Student of the Month by Susan Jordahl.
Greywind is a member of the wind ensemble at West Fargo High School and plays the flute and has achieved a state star for her solo performance. Along with band, Faith is in the Spanish Club and has been taking Spanish since she has been a freshman in High School. Faith is currently in Spanish 4 and hopes to be very fluent in Spanish one day. Faith has lettered in academics every year of high school and has been taking advanced placement and dual credit classes. Faith is the Co-President of the National Honor Society where she has been involved in many community service projects. Along with all of her achievements, she has a been working since she was 14 years old.
