Public elementary schools across Gaston County welcomed all students back to the classroom Monday morning for the first time in nearly a year.
“This is better than Christmas,” said Justin Beam, who’s in his fifth year as principal at North Belmont Elementary. “You don’t realize a school is not a school [without students]. It’s the kids who are within it that make it what it is.”
All Gaston County public schools operated under a blend of in-person and virtual learning, with one group attending Monday and Tuesday and the other attending Thursday and Friday, from Aug. 17, 2020, through Friday.
