Robin Kibble, 74, was accused of dangerous driving and driving while over the drink drive limit. Charges alleged he was behind the wheel of a Ford Focus between junctions 16 and 15 on January 26, 2020, when tests later showed he had 55mcgs of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35. On Friday morning, prosecutor Susan Cavender told Swindon Crown Court that the Crown Prosecution Service had reviewed the case and would be offering no evidence against the defendant.

Swindon Crown Court A CARTERTON man who gave false information after a traffic stop was warned he faced jail. David Seager, 46, gave another person’s details when he was stopped on March 13, 2019, in Chippenham. Appearing before Swindon Crown Court on Monday, Seager, of Alvescot Road, Carterton, pleaded guilty to a charge of perverting the course of justice. Judge Jason Taylor QC told Seager’s brief Susan Cavender he would adjourn for pre-sentence report. But he warned: “You know the normal sentence for this type of offence, so it’s given on a no promise basis. “He should expect an immediate custodial sentence but it is right a report is prepared so you have the maximum mitigation available to you.”
