What helped AIADMK s C Raju defeat T T V Dhinakaran

Consolidation of non-Mukkulathor votes a factor A likely consolidation of voters of non-Mukkulathor communities in Kovilpatti Assembly constituency may have helped AIADMK’s Kadambur C. Raju defeat AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran. The AMMK leader had shifted to Kovilpatti down south hoping to spring a surprise much like he did in Chennai’s Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency in a by-poll in 2017. A long wait for better infrastructure

A long wait for better infrastructure Updated: Updated: Caste factor plays an important role in Tirunelveli district Share Article Caste factor plays an important role in Tirunelveli district The infrastructure-starved Tirunelveli Assembly segment which faced the past 14 Assembly polls with a lot of promises from its MLAs in the past is gearing up to face yet another election. While religion plays a major role in the voting pattern in elections in the Kanniyakumari district, the caste factor decides the winners in the districts of Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi. The constituency has 33,000 voters of Thevar community, followed by Pillai (32,000) and Yadhava (18,000).
