let s take a listen to this. there has been quite rapid melting of the greenland ice sheet in recent weeks. in july alone, it lost 160 billion tons of ice through surface melting. that s roughly the equivalent of 64 million olympic-sized swimming pools just in july. that s really unbelievable. i want to bring up this chart here because the orange on this chart as you see right here on the sides there it shows the surface ice that melted on june 12th alone. and here you can see how early the melting season began. what does this all mean, monica? it means that we re, you know, in a system where we can t necessarily stop what s happening, but we could slow it. what it means is that this is going to have impacts for people all over the planet, not just those people in the arctic region who are feeling it.
