The sons of a 72-year-old woman, who succumbed to her injuries sustained in a road accident, have been awarded Rs 19 lakh compensation by the Motor Vehicle Tribunal, five years after her death.
Surekha Sinkar, aged 72, had filed an application for compensation of Rs 20 lakh on account of the permanent disability caused to her due to the accidental injuries. She died in March 2020, while the application was still pending, after which her children impleaded themselves as applicants to claim the compensation.
