Supreme announces its latest collaboration for Spring/Summer 2021: a capsule collection with prominent NYC artist Clayton Patterson.
Canadian-born Clayton Patterson gained recognition for his New York City-centric artwork alongside partner Elsa Rensaa. Their shop, Clayton Caps located at 161 Essex St., took shape in the mid-80s and featured embroidery across the front and sides of baseball caps, pioneering the technique which is highly adopted to this day across streetwear. The illustrations featured folkloric designs and were stitched using 100-year-old embroidery machines, resulting in a distinctive look and feel.
The storefont eventually became a gallery that featured other prominent NYC artists like Dash Snow, Boris Lurie, LA II and others, while also featuring artwork from bikers and even religious worshipers.
