admit that there is some dirty political pool going on? yeah. this is, you know, hard ball or sharp-elbowed politics, right? i don t think there will be a vacancy. i don t think anyone is going to go. but mitch mcconnell could take pride in the fact that to the detriment of all other nominees that are waiting, 300 nominees waiting in the senate, he has put two supreme court justices on. 26 judges on the court of appeals. ten were waiting to be confirmed. and 40-some district court judges. unprecedented injunction with president trump. and so he s rightfully so kind of taken a victory lap. and look where is his credibility? completely understand. i think he feels pretty emboldened, and his legacy will be that this court the supreme court, the district the courts for the next generation will trend republican. they may not be able to move legislation, but they re moving judges. angela rye, your response. yeah, i think that we already
the last time we spoke, doris, you said president trump doesn t quite stack up to previous leaders like teddy roosevelt had who had empathy, humility, fdr whose word was his bond but hasn t president trump kept his word? isn t he doing what he promised his base would do. that s fair enough. he s made the promises to get a tax cut, to deregulate things and get supreme court justices on. what i meant by the word is his bond is you say something and it s true and you don t repeat an assertion three times and it becomes true. normally what you want in a president, he campaigns on promises to one group of people. once you become president you expand that base. go to the parts of the country where people didn t agree with you. bring us together. this tribalism is in the country at large and everybody i bet on
justice on the bench paid dana, we re short on time, but i want to ask you. my theory is that we politicize the court now beyond repair, the senate is obviously highly partisan. why believe anything that the court does is impartial? lets give neil gorsuch a chance. for example, president obama, some of his executive overreach was rejected 9-0 by the court even after he put two supreme court justices on. i think he will rule based on the law, and i do think we should have a moment to think people like neil gorsuch and his wife that are willing to take a lifetime of government public service. obviously the pinnacle of his chosen profession, the legal profession, to be a supreme court justice, but they do sacrifice some of their other opportunities in life, and i was grateful that he was willing to do it. what an incredible commitment, you know? the man can do anything. greg come up when people talk to you about the court these
