Inventory data at the bottom of the hour. Brent crude holding just below 59 a barrel. Snapping a two day win streak, i would not call that weakness but moving slightly lower. Guy you and i are of the same mind because i think we need to just view the rally that we are getting in equities with a little bit of wariness and weariness as well. We are basically where we were three days ago. People have been getting excited about this rally this morning. I think you take a look at the mediumterm chart, maybe you would get a little bit more perspective about that view. We are up by 7 10 of a percent. European stocks are up a little bit. One thing i will say is the sector breakdown eventually, the sectors that are winning today are the ones that are most exposed. The stoxx 600 up by 1 10 of 1 . We are seeing some of the market currencies, the rand and the ruble trading reasonably strong. The east africa rand is up. Terrorists overtook American Airlines flight 77 and crashed it into the pentagon. For every american who lived through that day, the september 11 attack is seared into our soul. It was a day filled with shock, horror, sorrow, and righteous fury. I vividly remember when i first heard the news. Was sitting at home watching a Major Business Television Show early that morning. Jack welch, the legendary head of General Electric was about to be interviewed when all of a sudden, they cut away. At first, there were different reports. It was a boiler fire. But i knew that boilers are not at the top of a building. Explosion inhen windows on the world. Nobody really knew what happened. There was great confusion. I was looking out of a window from a building in midtown manhattan directly at the World Trade Center when i saw a second plane at a tremendous speed go into the second tower. Theas then that i realized world was going to change. Be, and longer going to it could never, ever be that innoce
Protecting the nations Transportation Systems. This morning we reflect on a somber day in american history. It was exactly 18 years ago that terrorists turned civilian aircraft into weapons, killing nearly 3000 americans and injuring thousands more. Today, we honor the memories of those who perished, and those First Responders who ran into harms way to help their fellow citizens. The tragedy of 9 11 led to the creation of the Transportation Security Administration. Tsa. Within the new department of Homeland Security. Tsa is charged with protecting our nations Transportation Systems from attacks and ensuring freedom of movement of people in commerce.
