DUBAI, May 13 (Reuters) - Oman will end a nightly curfew on Saturday designed to curb the spread of COVID-19, but shops and commercial activities will be banned from 8pm until 4am, the Supreme Committee for Combating Coronavirus said.
The Gulf state had banned the movement of people and vehicles between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. on May 8 and also banned commercial activity during the day, which will be permitted.

The latest wave of the virus appeared to peak in April, when Oman s seven-day average of new daily cases rose above 1,250.
By Wednesday that number had fallen below 600 for the first time since March 22, in a sign that the country s preventative measures were working.

MUSCAT The Sultanate of Oman has decided to ban the movement of people and vehicles from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. from May 8 until May 15, the Omani News Agency said Sunday.
Oman will also suspend commercial activity all day during the same period, except for food stores, gas stations, health institutions, and pharmacies. Delivery services for all goods are also exempt.
The Sultanate has also suspended the attendance of all employees at workplaces. They shall be working from home from Sunday, May 9, for all units of state administrative apparatus and other public legal activities.
The Supreme Committee for Combating Coronavirus in Oman has urged the private sector to implement the process of working online and reducing the number of employees to be present in offices. WAM
