Sara Grasso to Direct Homeless Services at New Beginnings

Housing and Development Newsletter Earlier in her career, Grasso worked in clinical and program management positions with local community partners, such as the Salvation Army Hospitality House, Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA), Phoenix of Santa Barbara, and Family Service Agency. “I have long enjoyed working in partnership with Sara throughout the years and was thrilled to have the opportunity for her to become a direct member of our team. She is perfect for the job and will serve our clients well,” said Kristine Schwarz, New Beginnings executive director. “I am beyond grateful for this opportunity, said Grasso. I have observed first-hand that the team at New Beginnings does whatever it takes to engage and serve our most vulnerable community members. I admire my colleagues for their approach to delivering services and am inspired by the mission of the organization.

Patchogue Organization Looking To Help Homeless Veterans

(Shutterstock) PATCHOGUE, NY A Patchogue non-profit organization is now looking to help Suffolk County veterans amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk normally has always worked to offer financial assistance to eligible Suffolk County residents, but is now also working to help veterans since the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program, a federally funded program via the VA, came out to Long Island. The group works with local veterans who are either homeless or on the verge of homelessness. We realize that there are a lot of people currently falling behind on rent, Rich Dellasso, SSVF Outreach Coordinator, said. Currently, the moratorium that is in place is helping our veterans to not be evicted in the event that they have fallen behind.
