On Gardening: Supertunia Vista Paradise is a pollinator champion
Petunias for pollinators could be paradise.
At least it seems this way at The Garden Guy’s house.
First off, my wife, Jan, and I are having the most beautiful spring. Not too long ago I wrote a column that planting a fall crop of Supertunias was a great idea. That is proving to be a huge understatement. The October planting survived the winter and is making an incredible display in both the landscape and containers.

Fall planting of Supertunias a great idea
Norman Winter
Fall planting of petunias was a great idea. The period right after Christmas has always been kind of like a breather for gardeners as we pause to evaluate plants and ideas that we have put into place in our landscape or perhaps watched other seasoned professionals try.
Back in the fall I was reading a publication by my friend Allen Owings, professor emeritus with Louisiana State University. He was recommending planting petunias as a fall crop in September, October and as late as November in South Louisiana. You have to admit there are a lot of similarities between Baton Rouge and Savannah.
