HISD Board Hears Updates On New School Construction The Hillsboro Independent School District (HISD) Board of Trustees met in regular session Monday, May 10, and heard updates on the new elementary school campus. With 57 percent of the campus reported to be complete, Executive Director of Operations Raymond Nors said that the construction project is now primarily in the finishing stages. Nors added that there is an extensive amount of finishing work that needs to be done. He also said that the utility meter has been installed and the campus is now on permanent power. The budget for the project is $29,355,180 with $16,786,122 being completed or stored to date.

Candidates Certified For HISD Board The Hillsboro Independent School District (HISD) Board of Trustees met in regular session Monday, March 8, and certified unopposed candidates for the May election. Running unopposed were Dr. Christopher Teague, Amanda Scarborough and Brooke Thompson. The board also discussed a Texas Education Agency (TEA) waiver for missed school days and approved a resolution regarding compensation for district employees during emergency school closures due to the winter storm. The TEA waiver addressed the four days missed due to Winter Storm Uri. HISD will submit the waiver to TEA to keep the district from having to make up missed days caused by the storm.
