Putnam High School Principal Jackie Vetrovec believes being able to offer events such as prom and graduation again for students is “a huge step in the right direction.”
“Last year, it was difficult ending things somewhat abruptly with things that weren’t normal,” Vetrovec said. “This year, we’re trying to make it appear and seem somewhat more normal for ending their high school careers.”
A year ago, the pandemic either canceled or restricted some of the biggest events for high school students. Now, schools are comfortable with holding big events again while keeping COVID restrictions in mind.
Norwich Free Academy officials are planning on holding a prom and senior day. The school also will hold graduation on June 9 at Dodd Stadium. The ceremony will be on the field, and students can bring four guests.
