Kirksville R-III moves forward with building-specific guidelines for level changes

Kirksville R-III moves forward with building-specific guidelines for level changes Austin Miller The Kirksville R-III School Board accepted Superintendent Robert Webb’s recommendation Wednesday that the district uses a building-by-building approach when determining level changes in its Return to Learn Plan. When the board last met on Jan. 7, it tasked Webb with establishing a new plan in that fashion. What he presented Wednesday was the framework of that plan. He said he has met with each principal and they are still getting more data together to create specific benchmarks that could send them to Level 3. Webb did provide three key criteria that will be factored in a potential level change, either by themselves or as a combination.

City to rename street Steve Farnsworth Drive

City to rename street Steve Farnsworth Drive Austin Miller Steve Farnsworth’s lasting Kirksville legacy will soon be honored in a physical form near the Kirksville school district. The street that runs along the north side of KHS, past the parking lot, water tower, and Spainhower Field before turning to Ray Miller Elementary School, is being renamed Steve Farnsworth Drive. The Kirksville R-III School Board approved the change during its Nov. 11 meeting, though a formal ceremony for the change is still to be determined. “After Steve’s passing, once the dust settled, we were thinking of ways to immortalize Steve,” said Interim Police Chief Justin Jones. “Not only was he a big part of the city and the police department, but he was a big part of the community. He was really sports-oriented. If he wasn’t working here, he was driving a bus for Weber or he was refereeing a football game or running the clock down at Truman.”
