Montgomery County school officials and students Friday spoke to the transformative nature of Governor Shapiro's education funding proposal, which would provide much-needed cash infusions to underfunded Montgomery County school districts.
NORRISTOWN â The fact that Beatriz Alcala-Ascension, a Norristown Area High School senior, will be welcomed into the fold of a prestigious Ivy League university on a scholarship reflects not only her academic strengths but other factors as well, noted Christopher Dormer, Superintendent of Norristown Area School District.
âI know that Beatriz is an outstanding kid. For someone to be matched to Princeton and be able to pursue a dream of an Ivy League education, we couldnât be happier for her,â Dormer said.
âI donât have to tell you how competitive it is for that kind of acceptance at an Ivy League school. A student of that caliber that came through our school system, selfishly I think it shows the quality educational program that weâre able to provide that we have a student that has developed the kind of academic profile that Princeton University wants.â
