With COVID-19 cases rising in San Diego County, Southwestern College is expected to update its protocols on face coverings and vaccinations, officials said Thursday.
“Southwestern College will provide an official announcement on updated mask and vaccine protocols on Tuesday, Aug. 3,” the college said in an emailed statement. “The protocols are being updated in response to the increase in local COVID-19 cases and in consultation with all employee stakeholders.”
Officials declined to comment on what the changes might be.
The announcement will come ahead of the institution’s in-person return for the fall semester. Its Chula Vista campus, as well as its learning centers in National City, Otay Mesa and San Ysidro, are expected to open for face-to-face instruction, as well as resume hybrid options and online courses.
