Reply Authorities are investigating allegations of child abuse at Wilmington s Wildwood Early Childhood Center. (Rachel Nunes/Patch) WILMINGTON, MA Wilmington police are investigating allegations of child abuse at Wildwood Early Childhood Center, Deputy Chief Brian Pupa confirmed. Pupa said the department is working with the Middlesex District Attorney s Office and referred Patch to them for comment. Our office was notified by Wilmington Police about an allegation against a staff member from the Wildwood Early Childhood Center, the district attorney s spokesperson said in a statement. We are reviewing and investigating the incident and will provide more information when it becomes available.

Health Director Shelly Newhouse said Thursday that the town has over 200 active positive cases and a positive test rate over 7 percent higher than most of our surrounding towns. Based upon current conditions within Wilmington (including the positivity rate & total number of individuals in quarantine) and the recommendation of our Board of Health, WPS will transition to a fully remote learning model beginning on Friday, December 18.

This year, because of hybrid and distance learning models in place, the state has granted permission to districts to shift to a distance learning day instead of cancelling in-person school because of inclement weather.
