It’s no different for Baldwin County Public Schools, which faced unprecedented challenges during the 2020/21 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, brick and mortar schools in the county remained opened. Students and parents had the choice to attend school virtually or in person. New schools continued to open. None of this went unnoticed. Through criticism and lessons learned on the go, the Baldwin County Board of Education persevered. For the efforts put forth by Superintendent Eddie Tyler and his staff, the Foley mayor and council held a reception in Tyler’s honor on Monday, April 19.

Baldwin County Public School System Posted By Guy Busby BAY MINETTE – Orange Beach High School Principal Erika McCoy has resigned from the Baldwin County Public School System one month after being placed on paid administrative leave. The Baldwin County Board of Education voted Thursday, Feb. 25, to approve McCoy’s resignation. The board voted without comment on an unpublished list of resignations and McCoy’s name was not released until after the meeting. According to the agenda, McCoy’s resignation will go into effect on Aug. 31.

The Baldwin County Commission on Thursday, with a 5-1 vote, increased Superintendent Eddie Tyler’s base salary by 14% from $212,940 to $242,500. The new contract also extends Tyler’s term of employment an additional two years from its prior expiration date of June 30, 2022 to June 30, 2024. “I feel like we have the best,” said board president JaNay Dawson. “We should let him know we feel that way.”
