Notice has been issued to the Additional Chief Secretary of Energy department, Managing Director of the Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) and others. Lokayukta Justice BS Patil has sought a report regarding the tragedy in two weeks. The case has been registered under the provisions of the Section 7(1)(B) of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act and others.
In its letter seeking ban on some of the 'green firecrackers', Mumbai-based Awaaz Foundation wrote: ".On testing, we found several of them contained Barium, a chemical banned by the Supreme Court in 2018. Most of the crackers also contained other chemicals listed as hazardous."
