SunStar Baguio were told that the company was shutting down after 30 years.
Roderick Osis, editor-in-chief of the paper, told Rappler they were informed of the closure via a virtual meeting with SunStar Publishing Incorporated management.
SunStar Baguio, which has a total of 16 employees, was the only daily community newspaper in northern Luzon.

+ February 19, 2021 BENGUET General Hospital (BeGH) received on Friday, February 19, license to operate its molecular laboratory from the Department of Health-Health Facilities and Services Regulatory Bureau (DOH-HFSRB).
The molecular laboratory, established through the initiative of Benguet legislative caretaker and ACT-CIS party list Representative Eric Go Yap, seeks to boost the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) testing capacity of Benguet province.
BGHMC was declared as one of the sub-national testing laboratories for Luzon, catering to Cordillera, Ilocos and Cagayan Valley in 2020 following the outbreak of Covid-19. February 11, 2021 LUIS Hora Memorial Regional Hospital (LHMRH) in Abatan, Bauko, Mountain Province will soon be equipped with an operative molecular laboratory.
The Department of Health (DOH) recently granted LHMRH its license to operate as Covid-19 testing center for Mountain Province and its neighboring provinces.
Once it starts to operate, specimens collected in the province will no longer be transported to Baguio City or elsewhere for testing services after the health department issued the hospital its license to operate effective February 4, 2021 and will be valid until December 31, 2021.
The granting of the license was through the efforts of Representative Maximo Dalog Jr., and the hospital administration under Dr. Eduardo Calpito, chief of hospital.
