A new two-metre wide pathway, nearly 300 metres long, is nearing completion along Havana Road West, Peregian Springs, providing a key missing link for residents.
The new Havana Road West pathway, between Brushbox Way and the Sunshine Motorway, will be completed this week (30 April 2021).
Division 9 Councillor Maria Suarez said the project was a high priority given the number of people who used the pathway, including Coolum State High School’s 1426 students.
“The footpath construction on Havana Road West will greatly increase the safety of all of our residents who walk, ride and scooter to school and nearby attractions,” Cr Suarez said

Finally the floodgates have opened and the community is able to have its say on the future of transport in the region, in particular, mass transit and the possibility of a light rail system along the coastal fringe. It s clear from the survey and the Draft Options Analysis Report there is a preferred option the council has its sights set on - light rail. Even the long-awaited CAMCOS heavy rail connection into Maroochydore came under scrutiny in the draft report, in which it was pitted against the first stage of a mass transit system which unsurprisingly scored extremely highly in many of the scorecards within the council report.

Premium Content Motorists driving southbound from the Sunshine Coast are facing 40-minute delays on the Bruce Highway. As of 12pm there were 40-minute delays on the Bruce Highway southbound, with congestion backed up from Elimbah to Beerwah. There is also congestion on the Sunshine Motorway southbound at Sippy Downs. Meanwhile, a motorcycle crash in Woodford is causing delays on the D Aguilar Hwy. Paramedics were assessing one woman in a stable condition following the motorcycle and vehicle crash on D Aguilar Highway and Kilcoy Beerwah Road at 11.05am.

Traffic congestion could clog the Bruce Highway between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast for another two years as current projects are completed.

A recent RACQ survey found motorists identified the southern end of the Bruce Highway as the most frustrating for delays
Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey says commuters should expect more roadworks on the Bruce Highway
The State Government says the remaining four-lane stretches will be considered as part of future programs
But even then, Queensland s peak motoring body warns more work will need to be done to keep pace with population growth in the south-east.
