americans should as well and you re not going renegotiate everything. we now know that you been lying, at least the worst flaws in the agreement have to be fixed, that means the sunset provisions which means that at a certain point they are welcomed in nuclear club in about 10 years. that has to be fixed. you can t keep developing missiles, that s not good. there are a few things yeah, go ahead. paul: i want to punish up with one point. we only have 30 second, but the president is going to north korea for a summit, what impact do you think withdrawal from this deal would have on that psychology of that summit? look, i think the deal the deal that trump gives to north koreans and the deal that trump gives to iranians has to be pretty much the same and in both cases it has to say you cannot have nuclear weapons, in the means of delivering them, we
trying to get him to scale that back. you see some similarities there. what i saw, strong language out of donald trump with regard to iran and how he will make sure that we provide deterrents acquiring nuclear weapons. france seemed more open that particularly with things like sunset provisions or inspections. i am not sure that merkel is there yet. bret: on korea, the president tweeting furiously. good things are happening. only time will tell. korean war to end. the united states should be proud of what taking place in korea. don t forget the good help the president of china gave to the
missile tests, right, in post-sanctions for its missile tests, et cetera. also extend the life of the original iran deal. it has some sunset provisions in there. was the president referring to kind of a partner agreement that would address some of the president s concerns with the original iran deal? that s a possibility. how you do that just between the u.s. and france, if that s what he s referring to, without iran s agreement, i don t know. are they talking about imposing additional penalties on iran for its missile tests, et cetera? not clear. but that s a possibility. and let s hope he adds some clarity in the press conference. that s exactly what i was about to say, jim. there s now more questions to ask the president when he begins this joint news conference. what s your first question? you know what, what does he mean in terms of this iran deal? is this something that s actually going to happen? i think more substance on any of
support side deals on missile testing, side deals on support for terrorism or side deals on the sunset provisions for the nuclear deal, could you support those to try to keep the overall framework of the nuclear deal in place? not only support taking action against iran for their nonnuclear violations, congress has authorized new sanctions that the president has not used to take action against iran for its support of terrorism and its ballistic missile violation and its human rights violations. as it relates to the sunset, there is no sunset in iran nuclear agreement on iran s commitment to not become a nuclear weapons state. so it is right for the parties to this agreement and the international community to say we want to make sure that you comply with the underlying agreement, even past sunset. that s acceptable. but for us to try to modify the agreement unilaterally, that i think is going too far. and i think that s one of the
an island of bipartisanship here in the capitol and i m proud of the way it operates. sandra: some of the issues we have today. the iran nuke deal, as we look on at macron and president trump, we know they have forged quite a relationship. there is a warmth between the two of them but they have disagreement on several very important issues including the iran nuke deal. it is expected that macron will try to convince the president, who says that is the worst deal he has ever seen, a horrible deal, he is expected to convince president trump to stay in that deal. yeah. i think the issue, though, is the sunset clause. we re working with the french, german and u.k. leaders to deal with the ballistic testing issue and also the inspections issue. what the president wants to see happen, though, is doing away with the sunset provisions that really after year 10 calls iran
