An interim memorandum of loss of Rs 1981.86 crore was submitted to the Central team, said Chief Secretary RD Dhiman who held a high level meeting through with Inter-ministerial team of the Centre, which was on a three-day visit of the state to take stock of the damage in the current monsoon season.
Himachal Pradesh rain-related deaths: According to State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) Director Sudesh Mokhta, 994 houses were damaged and 587 animals killed in the same period as the state incurred losses to the tune of about Rs 2,000 crores due to rain-related incidents.
More than 1,550 people have lost their lives in the last five years during monsoon season in Himachal Pradesh, state disaster management director Sudesh Mokhta said.
With the hill state witnessing a heavy loss of life and property due to rain-related incidents this year, a six-member Central team will begin its state visit from tomorrow to assess the damage.
