Sectorally, buying was seen in public sector, utilities, power, and realty stocks while some selling was seen in consumer durables, metal, and FMCG stocks.
HDFC AMC has been trading above all the key moving averages which seems to suggest that it is poised for a big run in the forthcoming trading session. The counter has given a pattern breakout with strong volume buildup as well, signalling big hands are also taking part in the stock.
Stocks that were in focus include names like Gujarat Ambuja, which rose 6%, Berger Paints closed with gains of more than 6% to hit a fresh 52-week high and Indian Bank, which closed with gains of about 4% to hit a fresh record high on Friday.
Stocks that were in focus on Wednesday included names like Syngene International (up over 4%), Petronet LNG (which closed with gains of nearly 7%), and Castrol India (which rose more than 4% to hit a fresh all-time high)
