POO, pee and toilet paper are the only items that should be flushed down the toilet.
However, Malaysians have been flushing more than the 3Ps down their toilets.
Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK) chief executive officer Narendran Maniam said an average of 40,000 tonnes of rubbish end up in its sewerage treatment system every year.
“From sanitary pads, wet wipes, and condoms to cigarette butts, cat litter, medicine, diapers and hair are thrown into the toilets and these items clog and contaminate our sewerage systems.
“We even discovered a fully formed foetus once, ” Narendran explained.
“IWK treatment plants can only treat sewage.
FEDERAL Territories Ministry has embarked on a massive tree-planting exercise that will see 900,000 trees being planted in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya in the next four years.
Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the initiative, to be carried out in phases starting this year, was in line with the campaign launched by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to plant 100 million trees in Malaysia within the same period.
He added that the 100 trees planted near the Batu water retention pond in Sentul was the first batch of the project carried out by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Putrajaya Corporation.
“The early stages of implementation will focus on seven lakes and ponds located in the northern part of Kuala Lumpur.

PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): The Federal Territories Ministry will implement a road project to link Kampung Baru and the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) as well as the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH), involving a cost of RM250mil.
Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the project, known as DUKE 2A Lingkaran Kampung Baru or LINK, would commence in stages beginning this year and is expected to be completed by 2024.
He added that this project was crucial to redevelop Kampung Baru and also the main prerequisite to enable bigger developments in the area. As we all know, the Kampung Baru redevelopment plan has been approved with a high plot ratio, thus it should have an efficient traffic flow.
