La Fez is a new Muslim-owned (pending Halal certification) Moroccan-style cafe that opened 2 doors away from Kota88 Restaurant at East Coast Road.
Inspired by the Moroccan architectures, the iconic “horseshoe” arch can be seen from their windows and doorways from a distance.
Stepping inside, I felt like I had stepped into Marrakesh, one of the four historical capital cities of Morocco.
It is also known as the “Rose City” due to the natural red clay used to tint their buildings.
Inside, the entire 70-seater space is painted in rose pink and gold, equipped with rattan chairs, and exudes a Mediterranean charm with a unique dining experience.
Heading to the East for some East Coast (cafe hopping) Plan? You have come to the right place.
We have compiled 20 (and increasing) cafes that covers Joo Chiat, Katong, East Coast Road, Telok Kurau, to Upper East Coast Road.
For easier reference, the newly opened ones (those late 2020 and 2021) are listed at the top, while some of the popular cafes are included below. Enjoy!

Japanese-Inspired Brunch Cafe By Team Behind Apollo Coffee Bar
This Katong café looks set to pack in the crowd pretty soon, as it is opened by the same group behind Atlas Coffeehouse, Lunar Coffee Brewers, Columbus Coffee Co. and Apollo Coffee Bar.
Neptune is the latest brainchild, taking over the defunct Firebake at 237 East Coast Road.
Old-school confectionery Chin Mee Chin just further down the road is also scheduled to open later this month.
Named after the farthest-known planet in the Solar system – Neptune (sadly Pluto is no longer a planet), all their cafes have a strong “universe’ theme, from Atlas, Lunar, Columbus to Apollo.
Perhaps people staying in the East may also be reminded of Neptune Court and Neptune Dim Sum at Marine Parade Food Centre.
The 70-seater space is divided into both indoors and alfresco dining, with an interior decked in white and Neptune green in colours.
