Coimbatore: A village panchayat chief was allegedly abused and threatened on the basis of her caste by a colleague. The woman, who belongs to a scheduled tribe, approached the district collector, seeking intervention. The incident came to light from Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu.

Devarayapuram panchayat president Sundari Thangavel has alleged caste discrimination and accused vice-president P.T. Krishnan of hampering development works.
