The dominance of Chinese escalators in Korea s train and subway stations has again sparked a public outcry, after 14 people were injured earlier this month when an escalator in Sunae Station ran in reverse for several seconds, according to industry officials, Thursday.
Residents of Bundang, a planned community in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, are raising concerns over the safety of aging public infrastructure, following a serious accident when a subway station escalator reversed direction, only two months after a bridge over a stream collapsed, killing one pedestrian.
Fourteen people were injured on Thursday after an escalator reversed at a subway station in South Korea, police said.The accident occurred at around 8.20 a.m. when the upwards escalator leading to exit 2 of Sunae Station on the Bundang Line .
