UL Pitcher Connor Cooke on Improvement, Team-First Mindset & More

First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference pitcher Connor Cooke led Louisiana this season with a 7-3 record and 2.04 ERA. The sophomore right-hander joined me on my show this morning as he and his teammates continue preparation for the Sun Belt Conference tournament. Cooke opened up about his favorite pitch, the key to his improvement, his team-first mindset, the big difference from high school to college, pitching coach B.J. Ryan, his favorite movie, and much more. Louisiana, who earned a 1 seed as a result of winning the Sun Belt West, is scheduled to face off against 6 seed Texas State Wednesday night at 7:00 from the Sun Belt Conference tournament.

Coach Deggs on Winning the West, Sun Belt Tourney, Drake Osborn

Louisiana Ragin Cajun baseball wrapped up the regular season on Saturday, clinching the Sun Belt West division in the process. Now they head to Montgomery for the Sun Belt Conference tournament, with a ticket to an NCAA Regional up for grabs if they can win it. As he does each week during the season, head coach Matt Deggs joined me for a one on one conversation during my morning show to discuss all things UL baseball. Deggs discussed winning the Sun Belt West, preparing for the conference tourney, the value and toughness of Drake Osborn, the potential options being a 1 seed in pool play at the SBC tournament gives them, and much more.

Louisiana s Comeback Bid Against Troy Falls Short in 6-5 Loss

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns were unable to overcome a poor start and dropped game one of their three-game weekend conference series to the Troy Trojans 6-5. With the loss, the Cajuns are now 28-22 overall and 11-11 in Sun Belt Conference play. They are currently in third place in the Sun Belt West Division. The top of the first inning was disastrous for the Cajuns defense and starting pitcher Spencer Arrighetti. A leadoff double and a batter hit by a pitch put two on with nobody out. A single after a sacrifice bunt scored the opening run of the game, and a passed ball scored another run to make it 2-0.

Coach Babineaux on Senior Class, Osborne, West Race & Cowboy Hats

Louisiana Ragin Cajun associate head baseball coach Anthony Babineaux joined me this morning on my show, as he does every Wednesday during the season, to talk all things UL baseball. Today we discussed the race in the Sun Belt West, the status of Drake Osborne, what the 4 seniors have meant to the team, preparing for Troy, how much the athletic facilities have changed during his time at UL, turning 50, cowboy hats, and much more. Louisiana is currently scheduled to host Troy in the final series of the regular season this Thursday (6 pm), Friday (6 pm), and Saturday (4 pm). Prior to Saturday s game, the team will hold a graduation ceremony for 12 graduating players, and honor the 4 seniors on the team in Brennan Breaux, Drake Osborne, Austin Bradford and Jack Burk.
