ANN ARBOR, MI Between 2014 and 2018, Ann Arbor issued on average around 30 solar permits per year.
That’s more than tripled since the Solarize Program was initiated in late 2019, however, with the city issuing 118 solar permits in 2020 alone, according to city officials.
Increasing access to solar power is just one of many steps the city is taking to achieve community-wide carbon neutrality by 2030. The city hopes to someday generate 78 megawatts of local renewable energy on viable buildings, parcels of land and carports, said officials.
