Summit County committed $80 million to purchase almost 10,000 acres in the Snyderville Basin and Kamas Valley last year, and officials are optimistic they’ll be able to raise the money needed to close on the properties before the deadline.
So far, Summit County officials considering an education center and gathering places, recreational amenities and continued agricultural preservation, as well as community housing and small business opportunities at the Ure Ranch though nothing has been decided, according to County Lands and Natural Resource Director Jess Kirby.

A Summit County homeowner with a property valued at $1.3 million would see their taxes increase from $290.75 to $336.24 under the current proposal. A commercial business would go up by around $82 a year.
