The first public hearing about tax increases is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sheldon Richins Building located at 1885 West Ute Blvd. The second hearing is set for Dec. 13 at the Summit County Courthouse. Both meetings will be live streamed.
Early Childhood Alliance Director Kristen Schulz is expected to ask the Summit County Council to allocate $330,000 to support families who need assistance paying for services and child-care providers.
A Summit County homeowner with a property valued at $1.3 million would see their taxes increase from $290.75 to $336.24 under the current proposal. A commercial business would go up by around $82 a year.
Gov. Spencer Cox pushed the general election from Nov. 7 to Nov. 21 in June to accommodate a special election in Congressional District 2, which means ballots are now due the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
