MOSES LAKE – Taking care of a family member with dementia issues, whether from Alzheimer’s Disease or some other medical issue, can be extraordinarily trying. For those in the area though, there is a support group available with people who know the trials of the situation, said Karisti Cox, community resources director for Summer Wood Alzheimer’s Special Care.
MOSES LAKE – Area residents will be flexing their artistic talents and putting on their walking shoes to decorate for Colors of Hope, Friday, and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday.
“I did a little bit (of art) last year, and people really enjoyed that. They enjoyed having something to look at, and it was something for them. Specifically for them,” said Karisti Cox, who is organizing the event.
MOSES LAKE The Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce, with help from local businesses sponsorships, provided breakfast for 4-H, Future Farmers of America and Washington State Grange members and their families Sunday morning at the Grant County Fair.
The breakfast was served from the window of the Chamber’s vendor building at the fairgrounds. Chamber President and CEO Debbie Doran-Martinez said that the breakfast is specifically meant for children and families who are busy packing up and preparing their livestock to go home on Sunday.
“We do it every year,” said Doran-Martinez. “Those kids have worked really hard all week long, with their animals. They're part of the attraction of the fair for city kids to come and see that life, and so we just want to want to feed them.”
MOSES LAKE The ninth annual Columbia Basin Senior Picnic will be held in the Commercial Building of the Grant County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“That’s Flag Day, so naturally, we’re going to have a very patriotic theme,” Cox said. “Last year, we had 500-plus seniors that came through. … And we look forward to even more people this year.” .
