After 11 00 but it burned all night. We have the latest on what fire investigators have learned. Reporter the small piece of blue plastic is all that remains of the trash can where the fire started. It got up into the roof and burned for some time before anyone noticed. The music room, complete with the charred ashes of a piano all destroyed. Its suspicious and nature and we look at everything. I feel like im just doing what my first instinct. Adrian was the first to call it in. It seems everyone has a connection to the building. Im speechless. I dont know what to say. Its upsetting. I went here when i was a kid. And i cant believe this happened to our community. We have been through a lot and dont need more. They say chief lanier cannot be trusted, has created a toxic environment and without change they fear the violence will continue. So far our murder rate here in d. C. Stands at 105, the same as all of 2014. Residents report gunfights happening in every quadrant of the city. The latest a double shooting on 3rd and k street southwest. Sunday evening a 13yearold girl who was walking home from the library was among those shot. Police Union Members blame the uptick in violence on the dismantling of the vice squad and Record Number of retirements. We used to get members that stay here 35, 45 years.
