ignored paygo 12 times in the last congress. and at least three times in this one adding more than a trillion dollars to the deficit. now, the latest example of fiscal restraint is a $5.7 billion disaster relief and summer jobs act. most of the money goes to fema for disaster recovery but that includes money for victims of hurrica hurrica hurricane rita and hurricane katrina that happened five years ago and already cost $130 billion. there s $600 million for a summer jobs act for teenagers. that s on top of the $1.4 billion already appropriated for that purpose. and more money for the small business loans. apparently, the $680 million already doled out by uncle sam for that purpose wasn t enough. there s no doubt that paygo is being ignored in this circumstance and the way you do that is declare an emergency when there s no emergency at all. unfortunately, business as usual in washington, that, you
