Sturgis Journal Turnout was high Friday for “Summer Beats & Eats” in downtown Sturgis, according to DDA event coordinator Ryan Conrod.  The event featured music by Moon Howler Band, a variety of food options and two events that had been postponed due to inclement weather: a classic car cruise-in and movie night.  Conrod commended Moon Howler s performance, saying it helped to boost attendance.  “They have a following,” he said. “So they have brought a lot of people out.”  Classic cars cars filled the parking spaces downtown. Conrod estimates that more than 125 cars were part of the showcase.  Ryan Miller and Jennifer Mealor of Brewhouse BBQ of Sturgis were among those to serve food at “Summer Beats & Eats.” Miller said it was a good night for the event, after having the previous DDA event interrupted by rain.
