this as the sinkhole continues to grow and another section is still sinking. the owner is calling the villa a total loss. wofl reporter he live with the very latest. ray, what happened? gretchen, this was a nightmare for some 20 residents who were inside building 104 here at the summer bay resort, about ten miles west of disney. residents who were inside villas, which are two bedroom, two bathroom villas, describe hearing loud cracks, seeing cracks all along the walls of their villas and all of a sudden, hearing glass shatter as the building fell into the sink hole which we understand was about 60 feet wide and about 15 feet deep. we understand more than 50 people were evacuated from the area. some residents we spoke to described running for their lives and seeing people jump out of windows in order to get to cover and safety. the whole building has been destroyed. we got a chance to speak with one person who was inside at the

disney world, at a resort. is the hole still expanding from what i just described? reporter: they believe erin good evening, by the way that the hole has stabilized, but they have a new measurement on it. it s now 100 feet across, not the original 60 feet, and is said to be at least 15 feet deep. now, the good news out of all of this, despite the dramatic photos is and the terrifying moments for over a hundred guests that were inside of one particular building, nobody was injured, nobody was killed. and that is miraculous when you look at that very remarkable footage of how the building came down. the guests did have at least some of a warning. first, the power went out t, th water seemed to be acting a little funny, then they began to hear popping and cracking and then the building began to settle around them. that s when most of those guests knew they had to get out. there s a security guard who s also credited with spreading the alarm. they had about 10 to 15 minutes to get ou
clothing, but it s not activated yet. now we ve itemized all of our belongings that were destroyed. and we re waiting to see where they re going to put us, on this resort or at another resort. we were told these villas are kind of bottom of the barrel of this resort. anything we get will be an upgrade. but unfortunately yeah. unfortunately there s a lot of frustrated folks here with their kids and elderly parents. it s just pretty unbelievable. they need to bring mickey and cinderella and ariel all to you all. maggie, we wish you well. we hope you can salvage some of this time with you and your family. chad, back to you. we ve been reporting these stories. why do they keep happening in florida? what is it about the terrain? below florida is a layer of limestone. that s a rock. but the acid rain that s going through the soil into the limestone is dissolving the lime, dissolving the calcium.
