Six persons, including four employees of a government liquor retail outlet, have been arrested on Saturday for adulterating liquor with water and selling them with fake labels at the government liquor outlet at Dowleswaram in East Godavari district.
According to Rajamahendravaram in-charge ASP (Special Enforcement Bureau, Liquor and Sand) Sumit Garud, the accused have been identified as outlet Supervisor Anala Sateesh and three salesmen D. Durga Lakshmi Kumar, M. Naga Raju, and Kolati Venkatesh. The two main accused, who adulterated the liquor with water and printed labels and packaging, are Doddi Jogeeswara Rao and Chandram Govindu.

Amaravati, Feb 24 : After the Covid-19 vaccination drive was deferred for them by a few weeks owing to the rural local body elections in Andhra Pradesh, police personnel in a few districts started getting inoculated for coronavirus on Wednesday.
Senior police officers in West and East Godavari districts received the vaccine shot on Wednesday morning. West Godavari superintendent of police (SP) Narayan Nayak started the coronavirus vaccination programme for all policemen working in the district, said an official. Nayak was one of the first cops to get inoculated in the district, followed by other senior policemen.

Kakinada, Feb 12 : Aiming at cracking down on villages notorious for producing illegal liquor in the run up to the second phase of panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh, the police in East Godavari have destroyed a huge cache of fermented jaggery measuring 62,950 litres used to make alcohol.
