RANCHI/JAMSHEDPUR: Private schools in Ranchi and Jamshedpur have decided to hike their fees after giving it a miss for a year during the pandemic when the state government requested against it. Although very few schools have implemented the fee hike until now, parents’ bodies slammed the decision and said schools should have been more understanding given that several parents have either faced pay cuts or have lost their jobs during the pandemic.
When contacted, Don Bosco Public School, Kokar said they have increased the fees by Rs 1,000 for all students, while principal of Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamli, Samarjit Jana said, “Since we had not increased the fees in 2020, there is all likelihood that it will be hiked by 10% this year keeping in view the norms.” He also added that the decision in this regard will be taken in a meeting scheduled in the coming days.
