Barely 48 hours after the BJP launched its campaign in West Bengal for 2024 Lok Sabha elections with Amit Shah’s rally, 12 of the saffron party’s MLAs were booked for allegedly "insulting" the national anthem on the state Assembly premises.
“I was in the dharna stage on MGNREGA and our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was with us. How can I be in the BJP protest? I saw in the media that my name has come up in the FIR. I have been fighting the poor peoples rights deprived in MGNREGA dues that day,” BJP Alipurduar MLA Suman Kanjilal, said.
