Commencement, Joint Commissioning and the White Coat Ceremony lie ahead this week, a trio of rites capping the 2020-21 academic year. Norwich University adapted to the coronavirus pandemic and went about its business, led by Dr. Mark Anarumo in his first year as president. We’ll boldly go …  A noon Monday Lunch and Learn on science fiction, the first of two presented this month by the Sullivan Museum and History Center, will lead this week’s campus activities schedule, which also includes several sessions related to criminal justice and law enforcement careers. Science fiction enthusiasts Glennie Sewell and Joseph Cates will lead the noon to 1 p.m. Monday session, “Star Trek: From Science Fiction to Science Facts,” which will focus on the lasting resonance of “Star Trek,” the television show created by Gene Roddenberry, and what in the show has proven prescient or purely fantastical. The show first broadcast in 1966 and ran for three seasons; it has lived on in movies and television shows, conferences and games for 55 years.

March 15, 2021 Pritzker Military Museum & Library and the Sullivan Museum and History Center present author talk by journalist Elizabeth Becker A discussion of barrier-smashing women journalists who covered the Vietnam War, a presentation on Palestine’s theater and food, Admissions Office informational sessions and the Spring 2021 Norwich Record alumni magazine’s arrival highlight Norwich University’s schedule this week. From noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, the Pritzker Military Museum & Library and the Sullivan Museum and History Center will present a virtual discussion with journalist and author Elizabeth Becker on her new book, “You Don’t Belong Here: How Three Women Rewrote the Story of War,” which chronicles the work of Australian reporter Kate Webb, French photographer Catherine Leroy and American intellectual Frances FitzGerald.
