Tennessee’s comptroller of the treasury said Monday that the state has become a top destination for people looking to move to a place with low taxes and a fiscally responsible government.
Jason Mumpower, a Sulivan County native who was appointed by the GOP-controlled state General Assembly in 2021 to be what he calls the state’s top “money cop,” also told the East Tennessee Republican Club that Tennessee maintains a “strong rainy day fund” that currently exceeds $2.05 billion.
