A group of farmers demanding enhanced compensation for land acquired for the NTPC plant in Dadri have called off plans to march to Delhi on Friday after the UP govt formed a three-member committee to look into their grievances.
With no update about the committee made to look into their demands, protesting farmers said they will hold a meeting on Monday to decide their next move. They also warned on Sunday they will not vote in the coming general election if govt doesn’t agree to their demand for 10% abadi land as compensation for acquisition.
Farmers protesting over land compensation, developed plots, and jobs in Noida give the government an ultimatum to accept their demands by February 12. If not, they plan to return to block the Noida Expressway.
Noida: Around 500 farmers staged a protest outside the NTPC office in Sector 24 on Friday afternoon and blocked the Maharaja Agrasen road for two hour.
