45-year-old dies minutes after receiving second Covid-19 shot in Maharashtra

Sukhdev Kirdat, who worked as a private doctor’s driver fell unconscious 20 minutes after he was administered the dose at Bhagyanagar vaccination centre. He was rushed to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital but was declared dead. The incident caused panic among the other beneficiaries who were waiting for their turn at the centre. On Tuesday, 859 people tested positive for the virus, while 903 patients recovered in the city. Mumbai reported only two COVID-19 fatalities, the lowest in the last 10 months. The overall death toll has risen to 11,476, while the caseload increased to 3,27,619. At present, there are 9,633 active COVID-19 cases in the city now. Meanwhile, in addition to BMC centres, 29 private hospitals in Mumbai have been given permissions to carry out COVID Vaccination Drive. The BMC said that these 29 hospitals fulfil all criteria prescribed by GoI to be designated as COVID Vaccination Centre (CVC).
