During the farmers market season, Sue Olinger sells 50 to 100 pies per week. I love walking into a store and knowing half a dozen people. Or, if I go into Old Town Warrenton and to Main Street, I know people. I love that small community feel.

âI was just a customer there since my early 20s,â remembered Sue Olinger of New Baltimore. âAnd I just kind of always would go there and say, âI think I can absolutely do something hereâ.â

Be the Change Foundation offers a 12-class program for female entrepreneurs, starting in February. The Be the Change Foundation, a nonprofit organization with a mission of empowering, strengthening and inspiring women, will start its next course in February.
It offers a series of 12 classes for women who want to start a business or build an existing venture. Local professionals teach the classes at Lord Fairfax Community College near Warrenton. Each session starts with an entrepreneur who shares his or her story and shares business tips.
The classes cover such topics as exploring the âwhyâ of business ownership, building a plan, organizing the chaos, understanding profit and loss, the benefits of having an accountant, legal aspects and managing your risk, marketing, social media, networking skills, when to hire additional staff and managing stress.
