A rain date has been set for 1 p.m., Sunday, May 16.

Maynard fire station kicks off construction with groundbreaking

Wicked Local Church bells began to ring just as the last shovelful of dirt was tossed into the field – a benediction of sorts for what will soon become Maynard’s new fire station. A groundbreaking ceremony was held April 9 at the 33 Sudbury St. lot to celebrate the culmination of a multi-year process, begun in 2007, to replace the old Summer Street fire station, which opened in 1955. Under clear blue skies, town and state officials and interested residents gathered in the Mill & Main Sudbury Street parking lot, watching as people took their turn donning hard hats and tossing dirt into the air.
